What is your position within Blue Light:
I am currently the chair person so I oversee the committee and our two wonderful staff members.
I run our Kaiwhakatere Program designed to take some of our older vulnerable youth and giving them the skills and ability to become active and contributing members of society.
I also organise our annual Trolley derby in partnership with Mitre 10 Mega.
What do you do for work outside of Blue Light:
I am a Police Officer currently working in Investigation Support
What are your activities of Interest/Hobbies:
I am an out and out thespian and enjoy musical theater and singing in general. I was the very first dancing Policeman, long before it became popular. Outside of that I am married and the father of 2 wonderful boys.
If you could be anything in the world, what would it be:
Singing and dancing on Broadway or the West End
Why do you want to be a part of Blue Light:
I am passionate that in order to effect change it needs to be done as early as possible. Waiting till someone becomes an offender or victim of crime is too late. So lets empower our young people to be active and contributing members of society early.
Which event/activities/adventures do you love most about Blue Light:
I love it all!! In short anything that creates positive memories, connection and resilience in our young people.
I also love leading a passionate team who all share the same goal of #empoweringyouth

Programme development, general dogs body and previously funding but now we have our wonderful co-ordinator I just get to do the fun stuff.
What do you do for work outside of Blue Light:
I’m the NZ Police School Community Officer for Taupo & Turangi
What are your activities of Interest/Hobbies:
I like to keep busy and as a mother of three I don’t get a lot of time for interests and hobbies, but I love the outdoors, cooking up a storm and recently started a crazy crafting hobby making cards.
If you could be anything in the world, what would it be:
Exactly what I am. I love my job!
Why do you want to be a part of Blue Light:
I was involved in Bluelight back in the late 90’s before I became a Police Officer. I started again about 10 years ago, because I wanted to do my bit to help the next generation, (which my children are a part of), be confident, capable contributing members of society.
Which event/activities/adventures do you love most about Blue Light:
I love the programmes that give our young people new experiences while having fun, the Holiday Walks for example. But I do enjoy a good Pool Party or Disco too!

Why do you want to be a part of Blue Light:
My son would not be the person he is today without the CACTUS program, so I joined the committee. Now both my children have been Cacti and have gotten so much from the experience.
Which event/activities/adventures do you love most about Blue Light:
I think they are all awesome. The positive interactions within our community are great.

Neither, they’d just sit down have a coffee and share “better work stories”!

I love riding horses, mountain biking & most things Motorsport.
If you could be anything in the world, what would it be?
A Supercar driver!
Why do you want to be a part of Blue Light:
I just love what Blue Light stands for and to get to be a part of helping people grow and really find their own value and self worth.
Which event/activities/adventures do you love most about Blue Light:
Any that encourages kids into the outdoors! New Zealand has so much to offer and we really live in a pretty special part of the world.
